Recently NCC made a law that the Nigeria telcos should laumch a feature called "Do Not Disturb" (DND). This feature is provided to opt out users from recieving irrelevant text messages. But the fact is, it has disadvantages and thats what am about to tell you.
According to what MTN wrote on their Do Not Disturb page:
As we all know that our network providers disturbs us with spam messages, but the above statement stated clearly that Bulk sms and VAS(value added services) promo are also from third parties. Below is another question asked from the page.
As you can see clearly above, opting in/activating Do Not Disturb feature on your sim automatically opt you out from Bulk sms and promotional offers which might be helpful to you. For me, i will say you shouldn't opt out from DND. Take the messages you received as you saw it.

Are promotional messages for MTN services included in DND?
NO. DND service will only be introduced for 3rd party services e.g. VAS, Bulk SMS etc.

DeleteHehe.. Your opinion is alright by the way. I just remembered a friend of mind who tried deactivating the DND on his Airtel line.
ReplyDeleteAlthough he sent the correct message, he started getting the full SMS package, (consisting of good morning messages, health and stuffs)
