Victor KachiFG To Tax Nigerians 9% For Calls SMS MMS And Data
Like seriously, we are to be taxed for calls we make, text messages we send, MMS we send and even the data we are using to browse. This present economy problem is really taking us somewhere where we don't expect.
Bayo Shittu - the Minister of communication said this at the event;
The tax will be billed to levy 9% on Telecom subscribers who uses text message, mms, call and data. This charge applies to Pay TV Stations. At an event organised by LCCI (Lagos Chambers of Commerce and Industry), the Minister insisted that the bill is subject to further deliberation, before it is vetted by the President.
Now that Nigeria is currently facing economy hardship, they are still making things get worst. Though i can see the good and bad side of this as the increase in taxation will reduce the way consumers consumes things. Also it will generate more income for the Federal Government.
As for me, i don't support this. Why will i be charged 9% out of a N100 recharge to make calls or send text. What do you have to say about this? Are you in support of what the Federal Government are about to do?
