CBN Governor Set To Tax Calls You Make
The CBN governor -Godwin Emefiele- set to hit a charge, i.e tax you the caller for every 3minutes or more calls you make. Well, will you find it funny if you are being taxed for calls you make? To be frank, I'm not in support of this idea by the CBN governor. Godwin Emefiele said, it is an alternative source of revenue for the Government.
This is what Godwin Emefiele has to say about this,
Like i said, I'm not in support of this idea, there are other things which can be taxed. Will you like it when you are being taxed for 3mins or more calls you make? Kindly use the comment box below.
This is what Godwin Emefiele has to say about this,
“There are several ways we can raise additional revenue to finance the increased expenditure that is needed to engender fast and sustainable growth in the economy,”
“I think we can consider introducing a negligible telecom surcharge to be entirely borne by the initiator of a call. In order to protect the poor and vulnerable among us, we could structure it to only take effect after the third minute of talk.
“Some analyses have indicated that the government could earn about N100 billion per annum from this alone. Obviously this surcharge will mainly be borne by middle and upper class people since I do not know many poor people who make calls for more than 3 minutes!”
