Huawei silently launched yet another smartphone called Huawei Mate 9 Lite, to join the already announced Mate 9, Mate 9 Porsche, and Mate 9 Pro. Huawei hasn't held any sort of special event for this model, choosing instead to silently list it on its website.
As you can see in the name, Mate 9 Lite is the lighter version of its siblings in the Mate series. It comes with a midrange specifications. Though, it's the cheapest phone in the Mate series you can buy.
Huawei Mate 9 Lite runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei's EMUI 4.1. 5.5inches 1080p touch screen with 2.5D curved glass. Packs a 3340mAh battery capacity, Kirin 655 SoC with an octa-core CPU, dual rear camera just like the other Mate 9, but the 20 MP + 12 MP resolution of its siblings was downgraded to 12 MP + 2 MP (and the Leica branding is gone too). The main 12 MP sensor has 1.25nm pixels and phase detection autofocus that should work in 0.3 seconds. The secondary -8MP- unit captures depth information so you can create bokeh effects for your photos.
Huawei Mate 9 Lite will feature a Fingerprint scanner at the back, come in gold, gray, and silver colors option, dimensions are 150.9 x 76.2 x 8.2 mm, and it weighs 162g. It is designed in full metal body and will come in two versions, which are the 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage, the other having 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
Pricing and availability haven't been confirmed yet.
