BENEFITS OF ROOTING AN ANDROID PHONE
As an Android user, rooting your device is quite necessary in order to get the best from that smartphone. Many people root their Android phones for so many reasons.
First of all, rooting your Android phone has given you the Admin privilege to access some system partitions inorder to tweak files and to customize the phone to your taste.
Also, you can remove/uninstall system apps (bloatwares), you can uninstall Android pre-installed apps from the phone to free up some space in the internal memory.

BENEFITS OF JAILBREAKING AN IPHONE
Jailbreaking an iPhone means bypassing the restrictions imposed by Apple on your iPhone. Jailbreaking allows users to change the default system apps, replace system icons, use different launchers, customize the control center and so much more. Most iPhone users customize their iPhones for Cydia tweaks. These tweaks include Activator, BioProtect, Cylinder, iCleaner and Zeppelin. These makes the existing features of the iPhone even better.
DISADVANTAGES OF ROOTING AN ANDROID PHONE & JAILBREAKING AN IPHONE DEVICE
Rooting an Android phone or jailbreaking an iPhone device is really necessary if you want to get the best out of these phones. Quite alright, there are still drawbacks to everything.
You will no longer receive software updates; and even if you do get an OTA notification about a new system update, your phone will get bricked if you try to update the phone when it's rooted or jailbroken. You have to unroot/un-jailbreak such device before performing any system update.
Also, the security of your smartphone is compromised. But all the same, it's not all bad. My device is rooted and I'm really getting the most out of my Android phone.
Getting the overall control of my phone is the reason I bought it. You are the boss of your smartphone when you root it or jailbreak it.
