How To Do A PlayStore Refund After Mistake App Purchase

Google Play Store allows its customers demand an app refund- for whatever reason- within the first two hours after a purchase has been made. After that, things can get a little more situational and difficult- but these are some really cool ways by which you can potentially get a refund.

Note: There’s no automated method or way of requesting in-app purchases or refunds from within the Store. You’ll have to manually contact Google or the developer for help solving problems or refunding your in-app purchase(s).

How To Get A Hassle-Free Refund Within Your First Two Hours

Like every other business policy, Big G favours customers rather than sellers. This is why Google Play’s refund policy allows you request for your cash within the first two hours of app purchase. Historically, this refund period has been about fifteen minutes- which as you can guess isn’t much… erm… enough time to download a heavy game and verify if it worked seamlessly on your tablet or android phone as expected. Now, more time is being given- two hours!

Note: Never abuse this process as Google can step in if they detect you are trying to abuse the whole process and the end result could be you losing your account to a “Forever Ban”; now, we don’t want that now, do we?

> To do this, kindly open the App (Google Play store) on your Android device, click the menu button, and tap “My account

> Navigate to the “My orders” section. Find and select the app you want refunded. You will find a “Refund button” there If it’s been less than two hours since you bought the app. Tap the “Refund” button. Google Play Store will refund your money and complete the uninstallation of the app from your Android device. Immediately this is done, the app purchase status on this page will now read “Cancelled

Important: You can only ask for a refund once for each Android game or app on your account. That means, if you purchase this app or game in the future, you won’t be able to refund it. Google does this to prevent people from abusing it i.e. continually refunding and repurchasing apps to avoid paying the developer for them.

Ask The Developer By Contacting Them

Now, once the two-hour refund period is over, you can’t get your cash back that easily anymore. However, the app or game’s developer can decide if you will get a refund or not/ To get a refund, you’ll need to appeal to the app’s developer.

Every developer has the option to come up with their own decision, so Google policy does not come to play here.

Here are some of the best reasons an android developer can approve your refund:

  • You installed an app quite recently and it suddenly stops working and becomes unusable
  • Your child used your device to buy an app without your knowledge

But If you just want your money back because you’ve completed an app features or completed all levels in a mobile game, the developer most likely wouldn’t take it nicely.

To find an app developer’s contact, go to the individual’s app’s page. Open Google Play on your Android tablet or smartphone. Then search for the app’s name, and look up its page. Tap on “Read more”, scroll down, and search for the contact detail you need.

Using a Computer, you can still get the contact information by visiting Google Play website for the target app and look at the app’s page. Navigate to the “Additional Information” section; there, you will find the app owner’s contact information.

Contact him or her and ask nicely for a refund, explaining honestly why you are convinced you should get one. He or She will then decide if your reason is logical enough.

Contact Google For Help

Did the developer disapprove your refund plea even when your reasons make total sense?
I’ve got good news for you! You can directly make with contact Google Play’s customer service people. As Google says:

“If the developer doesn’t have contact information listed, hasn’t responded to your request, or their response was unsatisfactory, contact our support team to see if we can help.”

Now, if your reason for a refund isn’t very good, Google will most likely decline your refund. But it’s worth a shot if you have one.

Simply head over to the Google Play help website, tap “Contact Us” press “Android apps & games” and click “Request a refund” to begin the process. You’ll be able to contact support by email, phone, or textchat.

Good luck!!!!
