Connecting Your WhatsApp To PC Will Now Require Fingerprint/Face ID
We all know that WhatsApp allows one to link an account to PC for flexibility and convenience. This is easily achieved by using the WhatsApp Web option on the phone app to scan the QR code shown on the desktop app's interface. It merely means that anyone can connect your WhatsApp account to any PC without going through typical security processes.
Consequently, WhatsApp is introducing biometric authentication options that one must pass in order to link an account to the desktop app. This is aimed at reducing the chances of somebody sneaking into your account. By having to use fingerprint or face identification, the app confirms your information while preventing your account being used without your knowledge.
The QR code method will still be available but before that stage, one must have passed the biometric security which will be submitted and confirmed accordingly. Also, the biometric method would exist by default except you completely disable fingerprint or face ID unlock function on your device. This is going to be a limitation for devices that don't have biometric security options as there hasn't yet been any news regarding using a PIN code or password instead.
